2017年1月19日-21日，来自全国各省市的33所重点中学的逾百名高中生及老师聚集在港中大（深圳），感受港中大（深圳）的学术氛围、大学生活。本次冬令营，我们邀请到了人文社科学院的邓扬舟博士、雷仕伟博士、Dr. Christopher Kluz 与 Dr. Lucas Scripter 为冬令营的同学们带来港中大（深圳）独特的通识课堂——《与人文对话》、《与自然对话》。

For the 2017 Winter Camp, Dr. Yangzhou Deng discussed some philosophical questions after introducing "Odyssey". Dr. Shiwei Lei shared his perspectives on meritocracy and democracy after introducing "Waiting for the Dawn: A Plan for the Prince" （《明夷待访录》）. Dr. Kluz gave a lecture on "The Republic" by Plato . Dr. Scripter lectured on Aristotle's "Nicomachean Ethics."

程、成长、选择，以及人生境遇的不确定性...这些问题，正是困惑青春期少年们的重大人生课题。邓扬舟博士特地在香港中文大学《与人文对话》(In Dialogue with Humanity)经典阅读课程中挑选了《奥德赛》（Odyssey）这篇荷马史诗，以故事主人公奥德修斯的人生旅程和艰难抉择为问题出发点，引领听众进入了一场有关人生选择的哲学对话。

邓博士的讲座先从荷马史诗的两个故事开始，集中讨论故事主人公奥德修斯(Odysseus)的命运和选择难题，然后顺势从史诗过度到希腊悲剧，将各类希腊英雄的命运以及他们的人生态度做了鲜明的对比。最后讲者通过哲学家尼采对希腊悲剧人生观的概述，连续追问听众，他们面对重大的人生时刻，应该如何正确面对呢？

整场讲座幽默生动，同学们笑声不断，精彩的发言让邓博士惊叹其知识面的广泛和思考的深入。智性的对话之外，同学们还享受了一场视听盛宴。课上他们聆听了有视觉设计背景的邓博士为《奥德赛》精心剪辑的主题MV，并以人生和命运为主题背景，观赏了《沉迷星空》这部令人震撼的未来派小电影。

《明夷待访录》

明末清初思想家黄宗羲的《明夷待访录》被很多学者认为是中国传统政治思想巅峰之作。它承袭孟子“民贵君轻”和《礼记·礼运篇》“天下为公”等思想，系统地批判了“以天下为家”的君主专制，用现代语言来说就是，黄宗羲认为天下是一间股份公司，股东是所有百姓，君主只是公司的董事或CEO，为百姓服务。本着这个思想，黄宗羲还讨论为臣之道、法律、学校、财政等，主张大臣不应听从君主而要以百姓利益为重，法律不是为保障君主之利，学校在选拔人才外还要舆论监督等。黄宗羲的这些观点，在不同的时代，也有不同的解读。在晚清民国，梁启超等人认为这是中国本土的民主思想，而在当代也有一些人认为这刚好是挑战西方民主思想，进而可以开创“儒家宪政”，用“贤人政治”（meritocracy）取代西方的“民主政治”(democracy)。孰是孰非，同学们和老师在阅读文本后了进行讨论。

Philosophy of Plato

人文社科学院老师Dr.Christopher Kluz 与高中生们分享了柏拉图的哲学理念。柏拉图认为哲学和知识从对话中诞生。

Dr. Kluz gave a lecture on "The Republic" by Plato for the 2017 Winter Camp. After introducing the General Education Foundation courses 'In Dialogue with Humanity' and 'In Dialogue with Nature', Dr. Kluz discussed the philosophy of Plato. 

He emphasized that Plato, following his teacher Socrates, held that philosophy and the pursuit of knowledge  happened in conversation and for this reason he wrote dialogues, which force the reader to "think through" ("dia legein") the content rather than just accept ready made answers to philosophical quandaries. He also presented Plato's theory of Forms, which separates the sensible world from the world of Ideas. Dr. Kluz concluded with an explanation of Plato's famous allegory of the cave, in which Plato likens the process of education to the escape of prisoners in a cave who move from the darkness of ignorance to the light of wisdom and knowledge.

Nicomachean Ethics 

人文社科学院老师Dr. Lucas Scripter就亚里士多德的《尼各马可伦理学》展开讨论，并认为亚里士多德对于幸福的定义与现代对幸福的定义是不同的。

For the 2017 Winter Camp, Dr. Scripter lectured on Aristotle's "Nicomachean Ethics." He began by discussing the General Education foundation programme and explained the value of a broad liberal arts education. 

He then discussed Aristotle's view of eudaimonia, which is usually translated as "happiness" or "flourishing." On Aristotle's view, happiness is the final end of human action. But as Dr. Scripter explained, Aristotle's view of happiness differs from the the modern common-sense view of happiness. Instead of referring to a momentary feeling, Aristotle thought of it as an objective state of being. Human happiness is for Aristotle constituted by virtuous living. The final part of the lecture focused on Aristotle's account of the virtues.
